judoDr Rousseau: The practice of judo is very physical and seeks the entire organization. This sport works the homogeneously members. The confrontation with a partner, forcing to know each other well, developing the relational side. For many parents, judo is a stabilizing factor for children, which induces a balance. The collective practice does seem to regulate shyness or otherwise hyperactivity in children, thanks to apparel concepts, grade, discipline and respect. And it is important for the child to make a difference through their own work.

Doctissimo: What are the most common injuries?

Dr. Rousseau: The pathologies depend on the level of practice. At a high level, the most frequent pathologies are injuries of the knee (cruciate ligament level) and shoulder. For people who spend their ranks, occurring mainly lesions of the shoulder and elbow dislocations. It may also appear some problems of low back pain. When the technique is approximate or there is a lack of learning, neck pathologies may be encountered due to falls. The problems of breakdown or tearing are very rare.

Dr. Rousseau: The youngest may begin 5 or 6 years doing "baby judo", which allows to set up a learning activity. Judo will not be truly effective until about 13 or 14 years, when children will master the different techniques. The official competitions begin around age 16. Then you can practice different forms of judo: high-energy workouts or highly technical sessions, with all the possible variants. It is also limited to basic techniques (kata) or simulate competitions (randori). The range of practices that there is no upper age limit. You just take into account the physiological age. There are those 75 who are still judo.

Dr. Rousseau: It is forbidden to wear anything rigid that might injure the opponent. There are joint protectors made of elastic adhesive strips or protection against direct impacts, such as shin guards foam. According habits or sequelae of injury, judokas can wear bands on their fingers or wrists.
